Today the Odyssey discovered an amazing initiative: the Banana house MakerSpace created in 2014 by Himanshu Bablani. It is aiming at providing a place, technical advice and some tools to people willing to give life to their projects. These projects are at the crossroad of design, engineering, and recycling.
Here we met Pranshu, a student in design who formerly completed a bachelor in mechanical engineering. We had a fascinating conversion with him that you can find here.
"My work is mixing technology, art, and philosophy. A bit of technique is of course still over there, but I added and esthetic sense to the engineering conception. Thus the public feels more connected to the mechanism."
"My current project is to create storytellings in public places. What I am looking at is something very low-tech and low-cost using objects found everywhere in the city around to create my mechanisms that are supposed to have a lot of investments otherwise."
"I believe Low-tech is a word meaning a very conscious choice: not taking “high-tech” for a simple task to be accomplished."
"Most of the times people look at "Jugaar", they try to find shortcuts to do things. They have rejected high investment and thought of what can be found locally, and how to repair it simply. It's more reliable and maintainable."
